ReadyBoost allows you to put all or some of your virtual memory onto a flash drive, which generally allows the virtual memory swap file to work faster than it can from hard disk. It there a point where flash memory becomes excessive? Would a 4 GB Compact flash be useful or is that excessive?

You can't do that with a CardBus card, ExpressCard, or any USB adapter card for any Compact Flash or similar type of memory. The one exception to the above is Vista's new ReadyBoost feature which will use a USB memory device as cache for the system, but it is not able to be used as regular RAM.

My own personal experience is that 4GB That is a good trade-off for me: I get the advantages of ReadyBoost, and space for 2GB of my files. I use it as a "floppy" to move files quickly between rooms.

I have an IBM laptom with a PCMCIA slot. I want to use my compact flash card for readyboost in the PCMCIA adapter. Vista recognises the CF Card as a hard disk but does not give me the option to switch on Ready Boost. Does Readyboost work with Compact Flash in a PCMCIA adapter. Thank you.
